CO-ODE relaunch

 (posted 04-Jul-2007)

Thanks to your support and funding from JISC, CO-ODE has been extended to allow further development of OWL ontology tools, tutorials and materials.
We have updated the website to make navigation easier, hoping this makes it quicker for you to find what you are looking for. Please check out the new site here [1] and let us know what you think.
We are proud to be making Protege 4.0 alpha [2] available in collaboration with Stanford University and have already updated several plugins [3] to the current release (more on the way).
We are moving towards a more collaborative, open set of tools and will be trying to make everything (including source code) more easily available.
We are moving our announcements to a more suitable form, so those signed up for the mailing list or our old news feed I hope you will find the blog [4] a better way to stay in touch (particularly as you can comment inline). This news thread will be deprecated.
Thankyou again for your support, and we hope you will visit again soon.
The CO-ODE team.

Protege 4.0 alpha pre-release

 (posted 23-Nov-2006)

The Manchester team have been very busy over the last 6 months+ and Protege 4.0 alpha is finally here. Currently, OWL1.0 is supported, but the framework has been designed so that other languages, such as Frames and RDF(S) can be implemented. Support for OWL1.1 is already well under way. The tool focuses on modularisation, and supporting flexible "views" of an ontology through plugins, but within a familiar Protege style.

OWL Debugger Beta Release

 (posted 25-Jan-2006)

Ontologies are notoriously difficult to debug. We really need help to track down the reason for inconsistencies, which can be varied and highly distributed. The CO-ODE/HyOntUse team have finally released their Protege plugin debugger:

 (posted 05-Dec-2005)

The bio-domain tutorial on ontology engineering, reuse and patterns has now been run successfully twice in Manchester and the materials are shaping up. The most recent materials, example ontologies and excercises are available at:

Protege-OWL Usage Feedback

 (posted 20-Sep-2005)

In order for us to better understand how the features of the Protege-OWL tool are used, we have put together a very quick survey for our users to fill in. Please set aside just a couple of minutes of your time - you will be helping us shape the future development of the Ontology Development Environment. This and future surveys are available at:
